Featuring Grammy-nominated guitar masters Jon Butcher and Johnny A., Guitar Monsters delivers an unforgettable concert experience where virtuosity meets passion, and every performance showcases world-class musicianship.
Inspired by the great guitar events that have captivated audiences for decades, Guitar Monsters unites elite artists on one stage to trade solos, share stories, and ignite audiences with the raw energy of live performance. From soulful blues and melodic rock to fiery improvisation and iconic riffs, it honors the instrument that changed music forever.
The line-up features Jon Butcher, a New England Music Hall of Fame inductee, known for his days of Johanna Wild, Jon Butcher Axis, Barefoot Servants, and time performing on Experience Hendrix tours, he is one of the most influential performers in Boston, having toured the country opening for the J. Geils Band, Def Leppard, Rush, and the Scorpions.
Johnny A. is a celebrated guitarist shaped by the Beatles, Clapton, and Beck. Known for his work as Music Director for Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band) and solo projects including Beck-O-La and From A. to Beatles, he brings award-winning artistry, Boston Music Awards recognition, and Boston Music Hall of Fame credentials to the stage.
Joining Jon and Johnny on stage will be guest Monster Dave Amato, best known as the longtime lead guitarist for REO Speedwagon. Born near Framingham, Massachusetts, Amato began in local bands before moving to Los Angeles in 1980 to pursue music full time.
Early in his career, he built a reputation as a versatile session musician and performer, contributing guitar and background vocals for artists including Rick Springfield, Kim Carnes, Mötley Crüe, Jimmy Barnes, Cher, Richie Sambora, and Michael Bolton.
In 1989, Amato joined REO Speedwagon as lead guitarist, becoming an integral part of the band’s sound for more than three decades. His melodic guitar work, strong harmonies, and high-energy performances helped carry the band’s enduring catalog to audiences worldwide.
Following REO Speedwagon’s retirement in 2024, Amato continues to perform with the Kevin Cronin Band and is currently touring this summer with former Eagles guitarist Don Felder.
This isn’t background music or a polite night out—it’s a full tilt rock show with heart. With proceeds going to support, The Open Door a local food pantry whose mission is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. The level of services they provide to the local community is too grand in scale to be able to describe here.
This show is produced by Rockin’ 4 Vets/Alive & Kicking Productions, which produces Vets benefit concerts throughout New England to support organizations assisting Vets on issues related to PTSD, addiction, and homelessness.
