Johnny Cash: Songs & Stories Free Concert with Matt York
Longtime New England musician/author Matt York performs the songs of Johnny Cash and tells stories about Cash's career spanning from the 1950s to his passing in 2003. He'll discuss Cash's emergence as a groundbreaking artist in the 1950's, his marriage to June Carter, and many of his other career highlights.
Recently nominated for the 2023 Boston Music Award for "Best Country Artist", Matt York lives locally and has traveled extensively through the years performing his own songs and his shows about the The Highwaymen: Songs & Stories. In both 2022 and 2023, York was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and his album "Gently Used" was named one of the Patriot Ledger's best albums of 2022. In 2019, The Boston Globe named Matt York's new album "Bruisable Heart" one of their top albums.
Matt grew up in Foxboro, Massachusetts and began playing the clubs of Boston as a teenager. Since then, he's played on stages throughout the United States and Canada.
