Volunteers Needed for QCAP's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program!
As a volunteer, you’ll help these taxpayers save money on preparation fees and claim eligible tax credits. Last year, we helped 350 households bring almost $600,000 worth of tax refunds back into our community! No prior tax skills are needed: as a new Tax Preparer, you’ll receive training in federal and state tax law, and can receive an IRS certification. You’ll also be paired with an experienced Tax Preparer for the first few weeks of site operations. Still nervous about doing taxes? No problem, we also have volunteer opportunities for Client Service Assistants, who help clients to schedule appointments and organize their tax documents. We serve a linguistically diverse community, so second language skills are not required but very welcome! Speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Creole, and Albanian are especially encouraged to apply! Tax services run from January 29, 2024 to April 15, 2024. We ask for a 3 hour/week commitment during this time. Tax services usually open on weekday evenings and Saturdays, but some weekday volunteer options are also available!
