Siren Songs is a new operatic concert for soprano and mezzo-soprano voices which explores humankind’s relationship with nature, our water systems, and climate change. This world premiere features newly-composed art song cycles for treble voice and piano by four up-and-coming women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ composers. Each piece toys with portrayals of “sirens” (e.g.: an unnamed voice calling out to her audience, with a message that is equal parts inviting as well as alarming– the water is rising, and nature is dying). Through our titular sirens, the audience is taken on a sonic journey of climate panic, mourning, and rage, with a call to action at the end. Boston Green New Deal Collaborative is featured as a guest speaker in this unique concert experience.
