Create Comics From Local History!
Cartoonist Marek Bennett will demonstrate how he creates his long-running graphic novel series, The Civil War Diary of Freeman Colby, based on primary source texts and artwork. You’ll then get a chance to create your own mini-comics and graphic novels based on historical comics, stories, and texts from the Forbes House Museum collections, or your own chosen themes. No experience necessary – everyone can create comics! For students in grades 5-8.
Student Ticket: $15, all materials included.
Family ticket (one student/one accompanying adult): $25. Adults can join the fun!
The workshop is funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the six New England state arts agencies.
