The Upstate Collective: with Meg Toohey, Amber Rubarth, & Joe Tippet


Boston Native MEG TOOHEY is a 25 year veteran of the music scene. Her songs have been featured on countless shows and promotions. Her guitar playing has been sought out by artists like The Weepies, Lori Mckenna, and Sara Barellies, Meg’s versatility and virtuosity as a player, writer and producer has brought her all over the world, from Barcelona (recording and performing with the legendary Manolo Garcia) to Broadway as a of Original Broadway Cast member of “Waitress, The Musical.” Her 2020 album “Butch” brought her back to her roots as a songwriter and tied her back into a community of artists that she’s loved for so many years. In her unassuming yet beguiling way, AMBER RUBARTH draws you into a world where wonder and high-minded concepts weave into a poetic tapestry, a world where space and time can come screeching to a halt with “songs so strong they sound like classics from another era,”(AcousticGuitar). She has toured throughout the world from South Africa to Japan, numerous times across Europe and North America including CarnegieHall. Amber has played shows with legendary artists including Emmylou Harris, Kenny Loggins, and Richie Havens. Winner of the NPR Mountain Stage New Song Contest, Her latest release, ‘Cover Crop’ showcase 15 cover songs woven into a narrative exploring the disconnection and remembrance of our interconnectivity with nature. JOE TIPPETT is an accomplished actor and up and coming songwriter. He’s been featured on shows like The Mare Of Easttown, The Morning Show, Ris, and the TV movie Patsy & Loretta, playing the role of Doolittle Lynn, Loretta Lynn’s husband. He originated the role of Earl Hunterson in the American Repertory Theater production of Waitress and also performed in the the Broadway engagement of the production. Joe is rarely seen without a guitar in his hand and has caught the attention of songwriters like Lori Mckenna and Brandy Clark. The Upstate Collective is his introduction to performing his original material.
