Mehfil-e-Ghazal
The Westchester Music of India will celebrate its 10th anniversary with Mehfil-e-Ghazal —a program of choice Ghazals from the great masters of the genre. Ghazal is a genre of romantic love poetry that has been set to classical Indian music for musical and poetic presentations at cultural gatherings of like-minded intellectuals and poets. For this performance we have chosen some choice pieces of poetic songs that emanated from the depth of the souls of some of the most famous poets of the era and that have been immortalized over the years by multiple marquee singers.
The performance will be by the 35-member MOI soloists, chorus and a mixed orchestra of Western and classical Indian instruments, including some rare and exclusive ones.
