New Mexico’s Culinary Traditions - A Blend of Culture & Flavor

Join us on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. for a one-hour lecture and Q&A to learn about New Mexico's traditional cuisine. New Mexico’s cuisine reflects centuries of cultural exchange, shaped by Indigenous traditions and more than 300 years of Spanish and Mexican influence. From the official state cookie, the bizcochito, to the ever-present question - “Red or green?” - food is deeply woven into New Mexico’s identity. Join Christopher Gibson to explore the Native and Hispanic contributions that define the state’s culinary heritage and discover how history, geography and tradition have created a cuisine unlike any other in the United States. Maeve Hartney, Chief Program Officer of Massachusetts Road Scholar Programs, will lead a viewing of the online lecture at Abbot Public Library, followed by a discussion session. Registration is required and limited to 35. Please register at tinyurl.com/culinary-New-Mexico. Can't attend in person? Please register for the program or join the Wait List. Everyone who is registered will be sent the recording.
