The Stone Living Lab (SLL) is an innovative and collaborative initiative focused on testing and scaling up nature-based approaches to climate adaptation in Boston Harbor and beyond. The Lab is a unique partnership between government agencies and nonprofits: Boston Harbor Now, UMass Boston School for the Environment, the City of Boston, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs, the National Park Service, and the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag. Their Living Seawalls project was recently launched at two locations in Boston Harbor and is the first Living Seawalls project in North America. Managing Director Joe Christo will lead a discussion about the Lab’s work, with a focus on the Living Seawalls project.
Registration is required. Attendance to join in person is limited to 50 attendants, or attend online via Zoom. Please register to join in person or via Zoom at tinyurl.com/Living-Seawalls.
Joe Christo is the Managing Director for the Stone Living Lab and the Chief Resilience Officer for Boston Harbor Now. As an urban planner who specializes in climate adaptation, Christo draws on his background in the areas of disaster preparedness, disaster response, environmental justice, and community planning for his roles at the two organizations, which both work towards making Boston and other communities thriving and resilient places for everyone to live and work.
