Lectures with Road Scholar: The Frozen Frontier - A Journey into Antarctica

Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest place on Earth, filled with geological marvels and remarkable wildlife. In celebration of Earth Day, join Road Scholar expert Nicole Flores for an introduction to this remote continent. Explore the secrets beneath its icy surface and its fascinating history. Meet the intrepid explorers who ventured into this harsh environment and the people who live and work there today. This lecture offers a vivid glimpse of what one might encounter when visiting this extraordinary frontier. A viewing of the online lecture will be held in the Event Center at Abbot Public Library, followed by a discussion session. Registration is required and limited to 35. Please register at tinyurl.com/Frozen-Frontier. Can't attend in person? Please register for the program or join the Wait List. Everyone who is registered will be sent the recording. Nicole Flores was born and raised in Chile. Her passion about her country and the region made her lead programs within South America since 1998, including several trips to Antarctica. She is a true believer in lifetime learning, finding in travelling the best source of inspiration to share her knowledge and keep learning. Flores is a great natural storyteller, mastering this skill by learning from the best in Chile. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Abbot Public Library.
