You Are Here - Textile Art Show - Opening Reception
You Are Here! is a guided tour through the states and towns of New England as seen through the lens of pattern. The exhibit opens at the 4th Floor Artists gallery in the Sandpaper Factory in Rockland, Massachusetts, on Saturday, September 6 and runs through September 22, 2024. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Saturday, September 7, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. At the reception there will be refreshments and live music.
In this exhibit, artists Kristen Dettoni and Dayna Hartford explore the personal histories that connect to them to this region in both literal and symbolic ways. They draw inspiration from their own personal map tacks, the physical locations where they have lived, worked, and played. They also examine the idea that they are here because of the decisions made by their ancestors, who chose to immigrate to America and grow roots in New England.
On display will be both original artwork and printed products. Displayed together, this show explores the journey from idea to pattern to product, and all the rest stops along the way.
