Join the library and a panel of LGBTQIA+ community members to learn about being a good ally to trans, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people in your life. Representatives from local LGBTQIA+ organizations will deliver a brief presentation introducing terminology and basic concepts of gender and transition, followed by a Q&A opportunity with the panel. Panelists include representatives from the North Shore Alliance of GLBT Youth, North Shore LGBTQ+ Network and North Shore Pride.
In addition to the usual Q&A format, questions may be asked anonymously during the event, via moderated Zoom chat, or asked in advance by emailing [email protected].
Registration is required to attend in person or via Zoom. Please register in advance for this meeting at abbotlibrary.org/events. After registering for Zoom, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
This event will be an atmosphere of mutual respect and assumes the good faith of all participants. We understand participants may not have the most appropriate vocabulary with which to phrase their questions, and we hope participants will feel empowered to ask questions anyway. Disrespect for panelists or fellow attendees, transphobia, intentional misgendering or other hateful comments will not be tolerated. For any questions or concerns prior to the event, or to make an accessibility or safety request, please contact Adult Services Librarian Wesley Sueker at [email protected].
This program is sponsored by the Friends of Abbot Public Library.
