Join Hemlock Restoration Initiative for an educational hemlock hike on Saturday, October 11th, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. in Caldwell county! We’ll start the journey at Boone Fork Pond and pass through Boone Fork Campground before continuing down a hemlock-dotted path parallel to Boone Fork Creek. The out-and-back hike will total about 2.2 miles along gentle terrain.
Along the way, we’ll get to admire fall foliage and see examples of chemically treated and untreated hemlock trees. We’ll also make stops to discuss hemlock ecology, their biggest threat (invasive hemlock woolly adelgid), and what you can do to help.
The back-up weather date for this hike will be on Sunday, October 12th, at 1 p.m.
For any questions, contact Ayla Busch at [email protected] or 828-252-4783. While the hike is free to attend, your RSVP is required, and space is limited. Please sign up by Wednesday, October 8th by filling out the form linked on our event webpage. More details about meeting location and what to bring will be provided upon registration.
