Conservative Women Judges? Are you kidding me? Can they be found?
Yes, there are many conservative women serving in the American Judicial System. One of those was Sandra Day O’Connor. Nominated by President Ronald Reagan, O’Connor was the first woman to serve as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. It has not been an easy road for women in what has historically been a male landscape.
The Ashe County Republican Women are providing a public forum by hosting a dinner where we can hear the stories of many women judges and how they achieved their positions!
The Sandra Day O’Connor Dinner will occur on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at the Ashe Shrine Club in Jefferson beginning at 5:30 p.m. Special guest speaker at the event will be Republican National Committeewoman Kyshia Brassington.
The dinner will feature:
- Supreme Court Justice Tamara Barringer
- Court of Appeals Judge April Wood
- Superior Court Judge Sally Kirby-Turner
- District Court Judge Courtney Marlowe
- District Court Judge Donna Shumate and
- Candidate for Supreme Court Justice Sarah Stevens
There will be a Silent Auction containing many treasures and a Door Prize for a lucky attendee of the event. Prior to the dinner, there will be a meet and greet for all North Carolina candidates plus the opportunity to meet the speakers. Tickets are available now. More information and Tickets can be purchased online at www.acncrw.org. Seating is limited. Get your tickets now while supplies last!
