Special Screening of the documentary- "Class of Her Own"
The summit—which is hosted by district’s Office of African, African American, Latino, and Holocaust Studies—will show the 86-minute “Class of Her Own” at 5:30 pm June 12 at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School’s Nate Collins Auditorium. The screening will include an in-person Q&A with the documentary’s writer and director, award-winning filmmaker Boaz Dvir (“Jessie’s Dad,” “Cojot”).
The event is free and open to the public.
“Class of Her Own” tells the story of Gloria Jean Merriex’s transformation into a trailblazer who rewrote the curriculum to meet her students where they were and infused her lessons with hip hop, dance, and call-and-response.
