Yuletide Trot 5K Fun Run & Walk Through Downtown Boca Raton
To benefit Changing Lives & Semper Fi Service Dogs
Boca Raton, FL – [October 9, 2023] – Changing Lives, a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of needy people in our area, is partnering with Semper Fi Service Dogs to host a festive 5K fundraising event where compassionate residents and their furry friends will walk, run & race for a cause together.
The event aims to raise awareness and funds to support two vital missions in the region. Changing Lives believes that in order to maximize the self-sufficiency of their clients they must provide a “continuum of care.” This means not providing merely a handout but a critical, individualized plan to meet the specific needs of their clients who are suffering from, or at risk of homelessness as they transition to stable housing and self-sufficiency. Semper Fi Service Dogs vows to leave no vet behind. Founded by veterans; the non-profit rescues dogs, commits to their care and rehabilitation, and trains them as psychiatric service dogs for Veterans and those suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and MST. Together these great organizations make a powerful impact in the community.

Changing Lives & Semper Fi Service Dogs believe in the power of community involvement. The 5K Fun Run and Walk event welcomes individuals of all ages and their four-legged companions. Participants can register to run or walk alongside their pets or service animals; or with friends and family members.

About Semper Fi Service Dogs:
Semper Fi Service Dogs is dedicated to training service dogs for veterans and those in need with disabilities. Each dog is rescued then individually trained to perform tasks that mitigate their handler's disability and restore the Veterans physical and emotional independence. More than a service dog provider, SFSD provides a continuum of peer support, resources and accountability. Veterans can return to their communities with a new “leash” on life as productive citizens who make a positive difference. Sadly, an average of twenty-two Veterans take their own life every day. A specially trained PTSD dog can provide a sense of security, help manage anxiety or panic attacks and assist with specialized task work.
