Live Longer And Healthier: Simple But Essential Tips
Introduction by Lewis Nelson, MD, MBA, Dean and Chief of Health Affairs at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. A nationally recognized leader in academic emergency medicine, medical toxicology, and addiction medicine, Dr. Nelson brings over three decades of experience in medical education, clinical care, and academic leadership to FAU. Throughout his career, Dr. Nelson has shaped medical education, health policy, and clinical practice through key national leadership roles.
In a lecture, Professor Charles H. Hennekens will present simple and evidence-based therapeutic lifestyle changes, many of which he has pioneered. These include avoidance and treatment of cigarettes, obesity, physical inactivity, and heavy alcohol consumption. Professor Hennekens will also discuss adjunctive drug therapies of proven benefit many of which he has pioneered. These include statins, aspirin, and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and blockers as well as beta-adrenergic blockers. The adoption of therapeutic lifestyle changes as well as, where necessary, adjunctive drug therapies will improve the quantity and quality of your life.
