1st Annual (Neighbor) Hood Fest Pre-Party
The 1st Annual (Neighbor) Hood Fest Pre-party will be held on Thursday, July 25 from 7:00pm to midnight at Henry Turner Jr.’s Listening Room located at 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Admission is $30.00 and includes a buffet. Cash bar.
Talent expected include Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, Kasey Ball, Jelly B. & De Wolfe, who will also be performing at the main festival on Saturday, July 27 at the EBRPL-Main Library located at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Festival hours are 12 noon to 8:00pm. The event is family friendly and free to the public and features a vendor village and food court, live music, films and film panels.
The 1st Annual (Neighbor) Hood Fest is about building unity and exploring the city of Baton Rouge’s diverse cultural communities. It is about neighborhood associations and what makes interesting places to live and work. It introduces new people from outside the area to Baton Rouge’s neighborhoods and has a film and music component. It’s all about communities, people and what makes them interesting.
Musical talent expected to date includes Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor and the Listening Room All-Stars. Special guests are Kasey Ball, Christopher Smith and Mike Da’Kidd. New to the festival are the duo Jelly B & D’Wolfe and Willem McCormick. Screenings to date include the feature film “Battlegrounds: The Lost Community of Fazendeville,” by Woody Keim and Nick Savides’ short “Mid-City Flats.” Host is radio personality Dave Randall.
