California has virtually every type of rock, landform, and geologic feature known. Many significant and fascinating geologic features and landforms exist right here in Kern County. Driving our Kern County roads and highways allow you to see many of these features, such as:
· The San Andreas Fault
· The Temblor Range...the hills behind Taft
· Sharktooth Hill
· The San Joaquin Valley
· The San Emigdio Range and Frazier Park area
· The Kern River Canyon and Lake Isabella
· The western Mojave Desert
· The southern Sierra Nevada and Tehachapi Mountains
· Red Rock Canyon
· Ancient volcanoes of the Piute Mountains
Join geologist Tim Elam for a geologic/photographic tour of Highway 58, Highway 178, Interstate 5, Highway 33, Highway 14, and other roads of Kern County. You can easily spot features mentioned above while driving to the Central Coast, Los Angeles, Lake Isabella or Tehachapi. These features are indications of why we have beautiful landscapes throughout Kern County.

The presentation will be informal, and no geologic background is necessary to enjoy the event. There will be no extra charge to attend this event...just the normal museum admission fee.
