Experience the exhilaration of hearing 100 voices of Conspirare’s Symphonic Choir come together to sing Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight, Florence Price’s once lost and thankfully found treasure. A gifted and prolific composer, Price’s masterpiece reveals the timeless luminary as a ghostly, sleepless apparition wandering the streets of his hometown, restless and in mourning about the folly in the world he left behind. Marques Jerrell Ruff, who made his brilliant Conspirare debut at Margaret Bonds: Credo is the soloist for this choral composition.
The evening also includes Maurice Duruflé's beloved Requiem, a revered masterpiece sung in Latin that immerses listeners into rich harmonies and spellbinding Gregorian chant. Soloists Laura Mercado-Wright, recently showcased her superb mezzo-soprano agility in "Keep it Away from Me" from Considering Matthew Shepard, and the dulcet bass voice of Tim O'Brien, heard in "The Fence (Before)" from Considering Matthew Shepard, sing the solo roles in this choral classic.
