Upcycling Textile Workshop: Transform Old Clothing into New Creations
Before the workshop, Assistant Curator Julie Le will offer a brief tour of the exhibition on view at the Jones Center. Exploring Tenant of Culture's sculpture and installations produced from secondhand garments, the hands-on class will demonstrate ways to reimagine and transform used clothing, textiles, and accessories into unique wearables and art pieces.
With easy-to-learn techniques and personalized instructor guidance, learn skills like fabric patching, applique, embroidery, and creative cutting methods. Projects may include transforming a t-shirt into a tote bag or creating a textile work from patchwork pieces.
Whether you're a beginner or seasoned creator you'll leave with finished projects, new skills, and inspiration to continue transforming your clothes.
