Texas Gun Violence Prevention Forum
Our goal with this forum is to continue promoting community-grounded conversations on the need for a public health approach to firearm violence, and how it can be prevented by advancing safety education, advocacy work, and common sense bipartisan legislative initiatives. Program’s presenters, discussants, legal experts, state representatives, ex-Senator, healthcare providers and scientists will address relevant issues concerning the impact of gun violence in Texas, and how it can be prevented. Honorable Ann Brown, the Chairman and Commissioner of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission appointed by President Clinton, is attending and will be presenting how effective she and her staff were at assuring consumer products in the U.S. were safe and how they failed with firearms. As the program indicates, we want to assist the White House and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy who issued a landmark Surgeon General’s Advisory on Firearm Violence, declaring firearm violence in America to be a public health crisis two months ago.
