St. David’s HealthCare and Leander PD to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
This event coincides with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which takes place twice a year. It’s designed to encourage the Leander community to safely dispose of unused or expired medications before they may be obtained and misused. Last October, the Leander Police Department and St. David's HealthCare collected 564 pounds of unused or expired medications.
Participants can safely dispose of controlled and uncontrolled substances, over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams, non-aerosol sprays, vials and pet medications. Used needles and other sharps will not be accepted. All accepted medications will be properly destroyed
