Nic Cage wreaks heavy metal havoc on a group of cultists and their demon biker muscle for destroying his life.
Mandy is a movie that I’ve never stopped thinking about ever since I saw it. Saturated with film grain and blood, it starts as a tender love story that’s dragged bodily into an entirely different genre by the delusional darkness of a Manson Family-esque cult backed by literally hellish muscle.
It’s a psychedelic horror movie where Nic Cage inhales enough cocaine to make a normal person spontaneously combust and also a weirdly moving showcase of how far someone would go for love and revenge; the two sides of that coin shown in Cage’s descent into grim, snarling fury as his quest takes him further and further into a world that he only enters to burn the fuck down on his way out.
