Cleve And Sweet Mary's Ain't Dead Yet Tour

Cleve and Sweet Mary Hattersley, having recently relocated to Las Cruces, NM, are returning to the scene of the rhyme in Texas. The OG members of the Austin music scene with Greezy Wheels and more recently triumphant US and International tours with pal Kinky Friedman, have blazed musical trails together for fifty years. Not many folks can claim to have played four Willie Nelson picnics (as well as Willie’s first show at the Armadillo World Headquarters, which introduced him to the Greezy fans that became his lifelong fan base), two Levon Helm Midnight Rambles and two appearances on Austin City Limits, sharing the stage with such stars as Springsteen, the Mothers Of Invention, Leon Russell, Grateful Dead, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ry Cooder, Billy Bob Thornton, and even Harry Dean Stanton. The Willie/Greezy Armadillo show was named the most important cultural event in Austin history by music writer/historian Michael Corcoran. Cleve’s book, ‘Life Is A Butt Dial,’ chronicles all of the above plus many adventures the couple has had through the years, including managing such infamous joints as the Lone Star Cafe and the Blue Note Jazz Club in NYC and befriending such legends as Albert King, John Belushi, Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jaco Pastorius, Dizzy Gillespie, Johnny Cash, Herbie Mann and many, many more along the way. In Las Cruces, they were named Movers And Shakers in their third month there by the Las Cruces Sun-News and are in their second year hosting twice monthly performance salons (Les Salons Des Arts Divers) that have become the center post for the Cruces music/arts scene. They have played for and become friends with New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, who danced wildly through the performance, and Cleve hosts a community radio show (KTAL Radio), The Cop And The Con, with Dona Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart. It was a top five program instantly. Now, with a full song bag, new Greezy Wheels tracks (the final Greezy Wheels album, ‘Emoticons,’ will be released in the fall of 2024), and copies of Cleve’s book in hand, the intrepid duo embarks on their first tour since pandemic closed down their last Kinky tour. And they’re bringing all the new ideas and inspirations they’ve discovered in New Mexico with them, from Monk to Jobim and everything in between, including massive originals.
