Musician Michael Fracasso headlines The Backstage with the Ernie Durawa Band. Now in its 8th year, Ernie Durawa has a new guest headliner every week. Playing with Fracasso is Will Owen Gage, Larry Eisenberg, and Ernie Durawa. Michael Fracasso is an American singer-songwriter known for his distinctive high tenor voice and a musical style that blends elements of country, rock, and folk. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, he was the first member of his Italian family to be born in the United States. Growing up in a steel town, Fracasso developed an early interest in music and songwriting.
Fracasso's musical journey led him to New York City, where he became an active participant in the Greenwich Village songwriter scene during the early 1980s. He regularly performed at the Cornelia Street Café's Monday night songwriter workshops, sharing the stage with artists like Suzanne Vega, Jack Hardy, Lucy Kaplansky, and Steve Forbert.
In 1990, seeking a more receptive environment for his roots-oriented sound, Fracasso relocated to Austin, Texas. There, he immersed himself in the local music scene and collaborated with notable musicians, including producer and guitarist Charlie Sexton.
Tickets are only $15 at the door. Tasty Tex-Mex and Margaritas are served in the showroom and as plus there is ample free parking. Doors: 6:30 PM. Downbeat: 7:00 PM.
