Improvisation from your Soul with Miss AuroraBoobRealis
Improvisation is a valuable skill to have as a performer. Think about if/when you forget some of your choreography in the moment and have to wing it! Strengthening your improvisational chops is a game changer for your choreography, act creation and confidence on stage.
Join our special guest, Miss AuroraBoobRealis, an award winning interdisciplinary performing artist and recipient of the Sassy Lassy award from the Burlesque Hall of Fame, to explore improvisation as an extension of who you are as a burlesque performer. Through guided journaling, discussion and lots of improv exercises you will expand your tool kit and strengthen your connection to the essential you on stage.
Students Should Bring:
A journal or something to write in, a pen or something to write with, comfortable clothes to move in.
About the Austin Academy of Burlesque:
The Austin Academy of Burlesque is dedicated to the instruction of burlesque performance and history. We teach movement, character development, performance development and fitness in a positive, diverse, and welcoming environment. About Your Instructor:
Miss AuroraBoobRealis is an award winning interdisciplinary performing artist creating in the intersections of burlesque, dance, theater, poetry and drag. In 2024, she received a Sassy Lassy from the Burlesque Hall of Fame - “for significant impact in the promotion and perpetuation of burlesque.” In 2025, Bawdy Suit (Samson Night, P No Noire and Faggoty Randy) producers of the Juneteenth Jumpout in Chicago, awarded her the Jubilee Star Award “in recognition of Black Excellence through outstanding service and contributions to the arts community.”
She is a co-founder/co-producer of Boombox Burlesque: A Hip Hop Burlesque Festival; the co-founder of brASS: Brown RadicalAss Burlesque, and back in 2007, she co-founded Brown Girls Burlesque. Aurora is also the current Executive Director of BurlyCon.
As a burlesque instructor she has taught foundation courses as well as stand alone classes. Her most successful single class Bump It, Grind It, Bend It, Bring It: Musicality and Stage Presence received rave reviews from participants at BurlyCon as well as in Austin, Portland, Richmond, D.C. and NYC. She brings her wealth of experience and skills she’s honed as a teaching artist of twenty-seven years and group fitness instructor for more than a decade to the table as a burlesque educator.
48-hour Class Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your registration and get a full refund when you contact the Academy more than 48 hours before the start of class. When you contact us with less than 48 hours notice, your fee is not refundable. You may however, transfer your spot to a friend or donate your spot.
A 3 student minimum will be required for a class to take place. In the event a class needs to be canceled due to low attendance, students and will be given 48 hrs notice and will be fully refunded.
