From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the first and third Saturday, visitors can make a Christmas wreath with free materials supplied by the Artisan Mercado and are asked for a voluntary donation to the Central Texas Food Bank. The Mercado has a goal of $1,000 and the donation goes directly to the Central Texas Food Bank. Attendees, in turn, will take home a holiday wreath to decorate their homes.
Artisan Mercado decided to hold a fundraiser for the Central Texas Food Bank because many local families are being affected by federal budget cuts, job loss and inflation, according to Claudio López, Artisan Mercado co-founder.
“As the economy spirals out of control, millions can no longer afford groceries. Last year, our Christmas Wreath workshop was free and we had many families take advantage of it. This year, we thought that we could also ask for a voluntary donation for the Central Texas Food Bank. It would be whatever someone can afford, $1, $5, $10 or more,” stated López.
Upon creating a Christmas wreath, visitors can donate through a JustGiving page created by the Artisan Mercado at ArtisanMercado2025CentralTexasFoodBankFundraiser and the Central Texas Food Bank sends a receipt through email. For those that cannot attend, donations are accepted 24/7 through the donation link.
Aside from the Christmas wreath activity, visitors can also find unique, handmade gifts at the Latinx market and those sourced from Mexico and Latin America. These include handcrafted jewelry, arts and crafts, paintings, clothing, hats and textiles from Mexico.
