Women Communicators of Austin Opens Peer Mentor Program to Nonmembers

Women Communicators of Austin (WCA), an all-volunteer professional communications organization, is celebrating January’s National Mentoring Month by expanding access to its Peer Mentor Program. Previously available exclusively to members, this free program is now open for a limited time to communications professionals and college students across the Austin area. Established in 2013, the Peer Mentor Program is powered by more than 25 WCA member volunteers who work with mentees to provide guidance on career path navigation, building professional networks, and addressing challenges such as work-life balance and the hiring process. Now through April 30, 2025, those interested in the program can find out more about it and apply for a peer mentor. The program is open to those who identify as a woman, and matches are made based on mentor availability and their experience with the mentee’s specific support needs. Mentorships can last up to three months. One of Austin’s longest-running professional women’s organizations, WCA has championed women in journalism, media, marketing, and other communications roles through networking, educational offerings, and events. By opening its Peer Mentor Program to nonmembers, WCA is hoping to broaden its reach and assist its community.
