Documentary: A Reckoning in Boston
James Rutenbeck, a white filmmaker, starts his academic inquiry by documenting low-income, adult students of color at the Clemente Course in Boston. The Clemente Course is a free, accredited humanities courses to under-served adults. Over time, Rutenbeck comes to terms with his own complicity in racism. Alongside the students, a unique filmmaking collaboration forms to explore the area’s history of racism and gentrification. A Reckoning in Boston will be shown through Kinema, which fosters community partnerships and involvement through the works of independent filmmakers.
