Doors open at 7PM / Show begins at 8PM / 21 and over only Dave Lansom - Bass Greg Skulicz - Guitar Harry Graser - Piano Carolyn Lansom - Vocals & Hand Percussion Carolyn Lansom is a multifaceted vocalist who draws from her wide range of experiences to craft a memorable performance. she is excited to return to the Pausa Stage this Spring. This time, she would like to present her band Dozo My Lady. The group formed as a husband and wife duo in 2010 in Japan. Then, in 2013, with the addition of Greg Skulicz, the group evolved into a consistently engaging, versatile act that often pleases audiences across Western New York. Dozo has maintained a monthly residency every 2nd Friday at the Buffalo Distilling Company since April 2018. The performance will feature these 3 musicians plus the talented Harry Graser on piano, and together they will play jazz standards that have stood the test of time, and a select few cross-genre favorites that showcase Carolyn’s vocal range, style, and ability. If you’ve seen her before, you know she crafts wonderful arrangements and you can expect to hear something new at every performance. Additionally, there will be a feature song for each musician. Dozo My Lady has been featured at the Northwest Jazz Festival on the peace garden stage, and was selected by the JazzBuffalo readers poll as the favorite Jazz / Pop, Jazz / Blues band for 2023 & 2025. In August of 2023, Carolyn was honored to perform My Cousin Tone on the main stage at the Northwest Jazz Festival in Lewiston. This performance was voted the most memorable performance for that year in the JazzBuffalo readers’ poll, as well. What does Dozo mean? It’s a Japanese word that means, “please go ahead”. So Dozo My Lady is female-focused vocal jazz. Why a Japanese word? Shortly after earning a BFA in Theater Performance from Niagara University, Carolyn married the bass player Dave Lansom and lived with him in Japan while he completed his service in the US Navy. While in Japan, Carolyn tried her hand as a jazz singer and never stopped. Additionally, she maintains a position in the critically acclaimed choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Throughout her life, music has always been a part of her, thanks to her supportive family. Her influences are Norah Jones, Etta James, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and many more.
