Learn How Seeing Eye® Empowers the Blind at the OCL Stafford Branch

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP – The interaction of a young sightless American and a woman in Switzerland training dogs to assist blinded war veterans nearly 100 years ago led to the creation of The Seeing Eye®. Learn about the New Jersey organization and meet trainers and dogs at the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch, 6 PM Thursday, March 28. Based in Morris Township, The Seeing Eye® is the world’s oldest existing organization specializing in breeding and training dogs to guide people who are blind. The group is instrumental in forming public policy for accommodating people with service animals. Trainers at the one-hour program will illustrate how puppies are bred, selected and raised to perform their services and how recipients are trained to handle and care for the dogs that bear the mission of bringing independence to people without sight. Please register at http://tinyurl.com/OclStaffordSeeingeye to attend this free program. For more information, stop by the OCL Stafford Branch, 129 North Main Street, Manahawkin or call (609) 597-3381. Keep up with Library programs and events at www.theoceancountylibrary.org, and on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Spotify, and Pinterest.
