Atlantic County Master Composter Program

The Atlantic County Master Composter Program is coordinated in partnership with the Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service. This class is offered in a hybrid format – with online lectures from guest speakers, field trips, hands-on demonstrations and more. Participants learn about the science behind composting and how easy it is to get started in your backyard (or inside your house with worms!!) Upon completion of the program, participants achieve certification by completing 20-compost-related volunteer hours, sharing the information they learned in the program with the community.
The cost of the class is $60. Although the class is open to anyone, first registration opportunity is provided to Atlantic County residents.

Wednesday, February 22 - 5:30 p.m. – Introduction to the Program
Saturday, February 25 - 9 a.m. – Field Trip! View Local Composters in Action in our Community
Wednesday, March 8 - 5:30 p.m. – Soil and Compost
Wednesday, March 22 - 5:30 p.m. – Composting with Manure
Wednesday, April 5 - 5:30 p.m. - Vermicomposting
Wednesday, April 26 - 5:30 p.m. – Commercial and Community Composting
Saturday, May 13 - 1 p.m. – Compost Expo Day at ACUA – Class Wrap Up.
Please register before February 10th. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged!
