MAMMA MIA!

Based on the music of Swedish 70s supergroup Abba, Mamma Mia is the story of a young bride named Sophie who is getting married and wants to invite her father to the wedding on the island of Kalokairi in Greece. The only trouble is she doesn't know who her father is and her former rock star mother turned tavern-inn keeper Donna isn't ready to see any of the three men it could possibly be again. Filled with songs like "Dancing Queen", "Waterloo", "S.O.S.", "Honey Honey" and the title song, this show will have you dancing in the isles (and the aisles of the theater as well!) The play is written by Catherine Johnson with songs by Abba members Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus with some songs by Stig Anderson. The role of the mother, Donna, is played by Absegami senior Alaina Famularo, with Khristina Cabrera playing her daughter Sophie. Rounding out the leading roles are Mackenzie Hackney, Jenna Mullin, Jack Stairs, Stone Foster, Alex Newby, Adrian Wiggins, Rae Gbadebo, Emily Wozniak, Shawn O’Brien and Xander Mass. Rounding out the cast are Mackenzie Ade, Ronnie Caro, Emma Crowley, Nevaeh Destefano, Mary Kate Devenny, Helena Duntley, Stefano Fabbris, Norah Karnwea, Kayden Komraus, Kiera Liu, Stevie Mackinnon, Michaelina Miconi, Sierra Nanfara, Emerald Nieves, Kai’ree Parker, Edianna Pena, Lauren Pruitt, Hannah Ross, Melody Ross, Leah Storr, Julian Vargas, Jessica Vitullo, Maleah Watson, and Ajay Young. Mamma Mia! is directed by Absegami teachers Ashley Winkler and Mackenzie Cornaglia and features music direction by Brian Conover, choreography by Katie Taylor, Katie Roesch and Johnny Keen and artistic design by Absegami students Vy Phan and Grace Vita and sound design by retired Absegami media teacher Ed Johnson. General admission tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens and can be purchased in advance at gamiemanonplayers.com. Limited admission tickets may be purchased at the door of each performance based on availability; theater goers are advised to buy in advance.
