Barbershop Quartets and Chorus
What’s more fun than a Barbershop Quartet? How about five of them plus a Barbershop Chorus, live and on stage! That’s what’s in store for Sunday afternoon, November 12th at the historic Red Clay Theatre in Downtown Duluth as the Stone Mountain Chorus gears up for its Fall Show.
Fans of Stone Mountain Chorus have enjoyed the ringing chords of four-part harmony for several decades. As the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Chorus has been keeping the Barbershop style of a cappella singing alive since 1981. This show will feature members of the Chorus singing in four Chapter Barbershop Quartets.
As an extra treat, the Chorus has invited guest quartet Entourage to perform for the crowd. Hailing from Music City Chorus in Nashville, Tennessee, Entourage was the 2018 Dixie District Champion quartet and has performed in competition on the international stage. Their high-energy performance style is sure to appeal to those new to the Barbershop Quartet experience as well as seasoned connoisseurs of the craft.
The show will take place at the historic Red Clay Theatre in Downtown Duluth. This landmark building was transformed from an old church and restored as Eddie Owens Red Clay Music Foundry. The theatre’s 260-seat “listening room” is perfectly suited to an acoustic vocal performance.
As with all Stone Mountain Chorus productions, a portion of ticket sales is donated to FOCUS (Families of Children under Stress), an Atlanta organization devoted to supporting children with medical or developmental conditions and their families.
