No look is complete without a designer handbag. It is even better to be stylish while feeling good about giving back to support families of sick kids. On Thursday, March 30, Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities (Atlanta RMHC) will host its annual Handbag HULLABALOO, where guests will have the opportunity to win designer handbags, all generously donated by community partners, by playing “bingo-like” raffle games. Cheryl Preheim, weekday morning anchor at 11Alive will emcee the unique, one-of-a-kind event at 6 p.m. at The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway Atlanta 30339) and virtually. Individual tickets are $150 in-person/$100 virtually, and a table for 10 is $1,500. Tickets can be purchased here.
"This is the epitome of a fun girls’ night out, but you also have the added benefit of supporting an amazing charity,” says Cheryl. “Helping support children with illnesses and their families by playing games to win high-end designer bags is a dream event. I’m thrilled to be a part of it and know firsthand how much the families staying at the Houses need our support.”
The philanthropic handbag heaven will feature brands such as Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Prada, Valentino, and others. All proceeds from the event benefit Atlanta RMHC and will help keep families with sick children close to each other and near the medical care they need.
Cheryl and her husband are grateful to use their personal experience to give back to the community. A mother of four children, Cheryl works closely with organizations helping children with medical challenges. Her son, Joshua, had an unexpected open-heart surgery when he was 7 years old. Weeks after Joshua’s surgery, her youngest child, Joseph, was born with a kidney condition. She created the “Brave Conquers Fear” profiles in courage series based on the motto Joshua created before his surgery.
"Since 2018, we have raised more than $700,000 through Handbag HULLABALOO, which has enabled us to host and support more than 4,600 families for a night, saving them money on food, hotel and other expenses,” says Beth Howell, President & CEO of Atlanta RMHC. “This event has grown to be one of our most popular fundraisers, and that support is truly making a difference in the lives of families when they need it most.”
