Mr. Panetta began his political career serving his California district in Congress, where he authored a wide array of legislation. He went on to direct the Office of Management and Budget for the Clinton administration, before serving as White House Chief of Staff for that administration. In the Obama administration, he served as director of the CIA and Secretary of Defense. He is co-founder of the Panetta Institute for Public Policy.
