On Thursday, April 11 Hemlock for Socrates will be playing their original, moody electronic rock at Soft Machine Gallery. They'll be joined by Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area artist Glass Mask and Lehigh Valley local artist CD-ROMantix.
Hemlock for Socrates's live show is an immersive journey through introspective, personal and sociological debates sung by their two vocalists in a sea of symphonic synth textures, moaning guitars and unpredictable percussion. Atmospheric lighting and narrative video projections further enrich the experience.
The band is travelling to participate in the annual Dark Spring festival in Boston and to promote their most recent singles.
Glass Mask's songs blend the moody ambience of shoegaze with dream pop hooks and punk rock catharsis, while still incorporating the new-wave influences that served as the band’s initial inspiration.
CD-Romantix creates a feeling of retrofuturism-- told through romantic words of loss, regret, and the question "what if"? With synthesizers that swell and decay over pulsing and heavy hitting drum machines, images of a 1980s science fiction epic are echoed.
