The Arctic: Our Last Great Wilderness- Film and Discussion

Filmed by National Geographic photographer Florian Schulz and narrated by Schulz and Princess Daazhraii Johnson (Neet’saii Gwich’in), this visually stunning work showcases Alaska’s Arctic — a vast and remarkable place few have ever truly seen. The film was previously featured in IMAX and giant-screen theaters nationwide and continues to inspire audiences with its extraordinary images of the 19.6 million acres of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — home to hundreds of species of plants, birds, fish, and mammals, as well as vibrant Indigenous cultures. Film length: 45 minutes Link to the official trailer is attached. Following the screening, Lois Norrgard of the Alaska Wilderness League will join us virtually for a Q&A, sharing updates on current threats and ways you can help protect the Refuge. Princess Daazhraii Johnson shares: “Lending my voice to this film is lending my spirit to this work which I care so deeply about. The film is filled with wonder and spirit... When I watch the image of the Porcupine caribou herd, I also feel the spirit of my Ancestors. It’s a deeply emotional sight to behold and I’m grateful that a larger audience might realize why this place is worth protecting.” Why It Matters ! The Arctic Refuge is one of the last truly wild places on Earth — and it remains under threat from oil and gas development. This documentary brings its beauty and ecological importance to audiences while also underscoring the urgent need to protect it for future generations. Hope to see you there at this inspiring program — learn how you can be part of protecting one of the planet’s last great wild landscapes! Light refreshments will be served
