THEATRE: "Antigone" adapted by Bonnie Roberts from the play by Sophocles

This production will be directed by Charter Arts alum Amanda Lissette, as part of the department's Artist-in-Residence program. ABOUT THE PLAY: The Athenian tragedy written by Sophocles in 441 BC has been adapted for a contemporary audience. With a civil war recently ended, the question on everyone’s minds is will there be peace or a new rebellion? The Chorus, who aren’t merely bystanders, but key players trying to influence the outcome, speak not only to the audience but also directly to the timeless characters of Antigone. Each chorus member argues the side of one of the characters, hoping, this time, to bring understanding and peace to the war-torn land. There are no heroes, no villains here; only individuals who have to decide whether to do what they feel is right or stay silent and safe. This production takes place in the Charter Arts Black Box Theatre, with LIMITED SEATING. Advance ticket purchase is recommended as shows may sell out. Please check ticket line before arriving for a show. Tickets are $6-$11.  This production is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY, INC., of Woodstock, Illinois.
