Witty, jazzy singer/songwriter Vance Gilbert, in concert
Vance Gilbert combines a four-octave jazz-trained voice with deep, soulful emotion and sly humor. As one reviewer (Richmond Magazine) put it, he combines Joni Mitchell, Richie Havens, and Rodney Dangerfield. He is touring to celebrate his 14th studio album, "The Mother of Trouble." Gilbert was teaching multicultural arts in the Boston area and getting recognition at open mic evenings there, when the three-time Grammy-winning songwriter Shawn Colvin invited him to be a special guest on her national tour. Since then, he has traveled the world, performing hundreds of concerts each year. He is often asked to tour with standup comedians, including hundreds of shows for Paul Reiser and the late George Carlin.
