Celebrated poet Edward Hirsch -- MacArthur "Genius Grant" winner and author of ten books of poetry as well as the prose books "How To Read A Poem and Fall In Love With Poetry" and "The Heart of American Poetry" is called "the most endearing of guides to the ecstasies of reading poetry." (Susan Sontag).
He also has a deliciously funny side: He has now published a darkly hilarious memoir-in-poetic-microchapters, "My Childhood in Pieces: A Stand Up Comedy, A Skokie Elegy." As Kirkus put it, "An eminent cultural figure finds a funny way to tell his life story: A memoir composed of jokes and short vignettes, one setup-and-punchline after another."
He will be introduced by Frenchtown's own beloved poet and former mayor Warren Cooper, who will guide an after-reading Q&A.
Free and all are welcome. The author will read from and sign his book.
