Conversations with the Curator: “The Iceman Goeth – and Refrigeration Wins”
Each month, tune in to explore some of our favorite artifacts, delve into the overarching themes of our galleries, or get a sneak peek into the planning and design of an upcoming exhibit.
On August 27, 2025, join our Curator of Exhibits for the story of Walter Cyphers, the last iceman to deliver 40-pound buckets or 100-pound cakes of ice to apartments and businesses around Easton. Referring to himself as a “certified solidified water merchant”, the Easton Express noted the end of the era when he retired in 1973 as “the iceman goeth – and refrigeration wins.”
