On February 28, 2024, join our Curator of Exhibitions for a deep-dive into one of our favorite characters from our Forged by Fire exhibit, Frank the Fire Dog! Frank was the mascot of the Humane Fire Company of Easton between 1871 and 1877. Accounts of the period say he was “the joy of the boys of the Humane” and actively took part in the Company. He went on fire calls and barked if hoses leaked, and even tolerated having his “mustache and tail” dyed pink for parades. Frank was so beloved by the Company that upon his death, the boys taxidermied his body and kept him on display in the firehouse!
