Meet the Artist Reception: Peter Strasser
Join us for a reception featuring Peter Strasser, the Erna Fergusson Library February Artist of the Month. Peter was born in Chicago. He studied art in high school and the Chicago Institute of Art. He supported himself by playing guitar in bars and nightclubs in the Chicago area. He moved to Albuquerque at age 27, and studied at the University of New Mexico for a year. He realized he needed a more focused art curriculum and enrolled in the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, and earned an Associate of Arts degree. Later he studied art and music at the Community College of Aurora (Colorado) and received an Associate’s degree. Pete matriculated at Metropolitan State College of Denver, a baccalaureate institution, earning a B.F.A. Pete’s favorite artist include Monet, Munch, Dali, and Van Gogh. In New Mexico he visited R.C. Gorman’s gallery and loved the simplicity of his work. Pete believes art should be used as a tool for changing the world.
