DON PERKINS, LOCAL HERO, BY RICHARD MELZER
Don Perkin's story is far more than his football career. It is the story of the poverty he faced as a boy growing up in Waterloo, Iowa, and the racism he faced in Iowa and Dallas. It is also the story of how Don dealt with these challenges, making him, as the title of Richard Melzer's book suggests, a true champion. This presentation will review Don's life and why he and his family chose Albuquerque to live and thrive. Books will be available for sale.
