The March "Wildlife Wednesday" presentation from the New Mexico Wildlife Federation features Jason Kitting, a worker with Rio Grande Bird Research, Inc., a local nonprofit, discussing an ongoing study of Rosy-Finches in New Mexico.
Kitting and others have been studying the population of Rosy-FInches on the Sandia Mountains, the southernmost winter range for three North American species of the bird. They have seen population declines in recent years and believe climate change may be the cause. The group uses volunteers to help collect data from their survey work on site.
