The Capital Region Lamb Jam is returning to Two Rock Ranch on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, for a joyful, family-friendly afternoon celebrating local food, sustainable agriculture, and small farm resilience. This free, open-to-the-public event runs from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the scenic Helderberg hilltowns of Albany County and brings together local farms, musicians, artisans, and food producers for an unforgettable on-farm experience.
This year’s Lamb Jam is proud to welcome New York State Commissioner of Agriculture Richard Ball, a champion of local food systems and family farming, whose presence signals the growing importance of small-scale, regenerative farms like Two Rock Ranch in the future of New York agriculture.
Guests can look forward to free lamb tastings courtesy of the American Lamb Board, with Nick Forrest on hand to serve and share information about American-raised lamb. The event also features food for purchase from the beloved Fiorelli Bakery, known for local ingredients and hearty, farm-friendly cuisine.
Visitors will also enjoy craft spirit tastings from New Scotland Spirits and a special sneak preview of a brand-new, locally made maple wine from Helderberg 1839, a historic farmstead and maple producer nestled in the nearby hills.
Live Irish music will be provided by the New Leaf Band, whose festive, traditional sound invites dancing on the grass and creates the perfect backdrop for a summer evening on the farm.
The farm itself—Two Rock Ranch, home to the largest registered flock of White Dorper sheep on the East Coast—will be open for self-guided tours and staffed meet-and-greets. Attendees can hold baby lambs, meet livestock guardian dogs, observe rotational grazing systems, and ask questions about how lamb is raised, processed, and brought to market in a humane and sustainable way.
Also joining the event are representatives from Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District and the New York State Field Veterinarian’s Office, offering insights into pasture management, livestock health, and support programs for farmers and landowners.
An indoor/outdoor artisan market will showcase the work of local farms and craftspeople, including fiber artists, herbalists, woodworkers, flower growers, and food vendors. Guests will have the opportunity to shop handmade goods, learn about local agriculture, and support regional producers.
At its heart, Lamb Jam is a celebration of transparency in food production, the hard work of farmers, and the unique beauty of community-centered agriculture. Created by shepherd and ICU nurse Emily Vincent, the event offers a rare, immersive chance for the public to experience the day-to-day life of a working sheep farm—up close, personal, and delicious.
