We invite you to join us on Sunday, October 19, for our annual Matthew Bender IV Lecture. Matthew Bender was not only a visionary but also a foundational figure in the Historic Albany Foundation (HAF), serving as both a founding member and the inaugural President. Each year, we gather to pay tribute to his legacy through a special reception and thought-provoking lecture.
This year’s event promises to be particularly engaging as we will feature a panel of esteemed historians and experts specializing in the Erie Canal. Together, we will delve into discussions commemorating the remarkable 200-year anniversary of this significant waterway. We look forward to celebrating history with you!
HAF is excited to have partnered with Discover Albany and the NYS Canal Corp. to bring 200 Years of the Erie Canal: Past, Present and Future to life. To date our speakers include Jill Delaney from Discover Albany and Rebecca Hughes of the Canal Corp moderated by John Callaghan of the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District.
