This Event has Passed
Building on the success of last year’s “Movie Music Play-In,” the Albany Symphony and the Empire State Youth Orchestra (ESYO) are thrilled to present an exciting afternoon of collaborative music-making, generously supported by the Innovation Partnership. This special event, designed to engage and entertain audiences of all ages, will take place at the MVP Arena on October 14 at 3:00pm.
This free concert will be a collaboration between the Albany Symphony’s professional musicians, student musicians at ESYO, musicians from public schools and colleges across our region, and amateur musicians from throughout our community, all joining forces as one gigantic orchestra. For me, the highlight of last year’s concert was the finale, when 150+ musicians joined our two orchestras in an unforgettable performance of John Williams’ “Imperial March” from Star Wars.
This year, we want even more musicians from across the Capital Region to join us. Dust off your violin, saxophone, trumpet, or any musical instrument, and add your voice. With you alongside ESYO and Albany Symphony players, this event is a celebration of how powerful (and BIG) an orchestra can be!
Students, teachers, and anyone who wants to participate: please fill out the RSVP form on the Albany Symphony website, download the sheet music, and practice! The team will be sharing information about rehearsals, and day-of logistics.
